Living His Way

The Miracle of Healing  . . .

According to Mathew 4:23 Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the good news (gospel) of the kingdom of God and healing every sickness, diseases and every weakness and infirmity among people.

When I meditate on this word often I think ‘wow! ‘How did he do that? For instance preaching is okay. People do preach. Some are good, some are bad and some just manage. Some can get their point across to people. But when it comes to doing a miracle like healing people from their physical illnesses or any other form of healing or changing their heart, I think it takes more. Jesus had that. Even though he was in flesh he was so closely connected to God that this connection filled him with intense love, faith and compassion for all the other people.  He became the bridge between us and God. I would call him a mediator receiving from father and giving it to us.

We are his followers so we have to do what he did and he has already given us the authority. Even though  our prime duty is to spread the good news (evangelise) to others about what God has done in our life,  We cannot avoid the fact that we have to take the authority given to us by Jesus and lay hands on others and pray and do the healing. Now this is a common knowledge.  But still I feel why people like me are scared to just go and lay hands on a dying person or person with incurable diseases. Rather I would say that I am scared about what will happen if he or she doesn’t get healed ? They might talk behind my back or mock at me or my religion. OH! Its all about me then. This is the time I ask God to help me. I ask him to talk to me and guide me through his words.

My meditation and Holy Spirit’s  revelation

Any healing can be achieved by the combination of 4 things.

·       Taking the authority

·       Love for God and others

·       Faith

·       Compassion for others

If somebody is sick

·       We need to feel true love and compassion for that person. Unless we are troubled in our hearts we can’t beg for God’s mercy and grace. Begging for God’s mercy in other words is praying to him earnestly. (Mark 6:56, Mark 7:32, Mark8:22)

·    When this happens we move God’s compassion. That only happens when He sees our intense need and desperation for God to work in our and other people’s lives. When we cry out to God he shows or rather I should say He is moved with compassion. (Luke 7:13).

·    Once His mercy falls down, we have to receive it by faith. First believe that his mercy has fallen down, then receive it by faith, confess it with our mouth and do things which we didn’t do before. This is the act of obedience and faith which releases miracles in ours and other people’s lives. After this we need to testify and bear his witness and carry the burden for others. (Mark 9:23) It is very good if we believe but if we can’t then we need to ask for his grace. (Mark 9:24). Sometimes the bondages are so strong it is hard to believe as we don’t see results .

But in those circumstances we need to fast and pray for that miracle. (Mark9:29).  Receiving in faith always make me think of a story about the centurion’s servant  (Luke7: 1to 9).  Healing of the centurion’s servant shows his earnest desire and love for others. i.e his servant. Being so big and rich he confesses to Jesus his meekness, humbleness and politeness.  He shows respect by sending his elders to Jesus, begging him and asking his mercy in prayer and showing his faith by telling him that only if he says a word his servant will heal. Jesus is amazed with his faith and all the qualities. so the healing miracle was even greater (Luke 7:10). They received the answers even before they got home. Once we receive his mercy by faith we get miracles like healing.  (Mark 10:51,52) Serving after healing is also very necessary. If we don’t and forget about it we are cheaters. We need to be faithful. (Luke 4:39). Once we receive the miracles we need to go and testify about it and serve others and our God more faithfully.

·     Sometimes our own sins and strongholds can lead us to sickness. We need to look into ourselves, try to figure it out. Beg God and ask his forgiveness and everything will fall in its place. (John 5:12) (Mathew9:2).

·     Sometimes sickness also comes in our lives so that Gods work could be revealed. (John 9:2,3).

In this realm of spiritual warfare I am walking on a bridge of hot coals or I can say that I am walking on the water. If I keep my eyes on Jesus, I will complete my journey but if I take my eyes off him then there is every possibility that I will drown.
