Living His Way

Today is

Life is Temporary, Eternity is Endless

'This world is not our home; we are looking forward to our everlasting home in heaven.

'Hebrews 13:14 .

Death is inevitable. But if we have a relationship with God through Jesus, then we do not have to fear death. Death is the door to eternity. It will be the last hour of our time on earth, but it won't be the last of us. Rather than being the end of our lives, it will be our birthday into Heaven. When measured against eternity, our time on this earth is like the blink of an eye, but the consequences of it will last forever. (2 Corinthians 5:6)

Read and discuss the following scriptures :

Psalm 119:19, Psalm 39:4, 1 Peter: 1:17, Philipians 3:18-20).

This life is preparation for the next. We are going to spend some time on this earth, but we will spend forever in eternity. God is very clear about the dangers of living for the world and adopting the values, priorities and lifestyle of this world around us.

The bible tells us that we are Christ's Ambassadors -  (2 Corinthians 5:20).

Also Read 1 Peter 2:11, 1 Corinthians 7:31 and 2 Corinthians 4:18. When we realise that life on earth is just a temporary assignment, our values will be radically altered. We will then concentrate on eternal values, not temporary values. We will begin to use our time and money more wisely. We will begin to place a higher premium on relationships and character, instead of fame or wealth or achievements. Our priorities get re-ordered.(Phillipians 3:7).

Question : Given that life on earth is a temporary assignment, discuss one or two things that we can stop to do and somethings that we can begin to do.

God is interested in the prosperity of our souls. We should never focus on temporary crowns. In God's eyes, the greatest heroes of faith are not those who achieve only worldly prosperity, success and power in this life, but those who achieve the inner prosperity of the soul, treat this life as a temporary assignment and serve faithfully, expecting their reward in eternity.

(Hebrews 11:13-16)

At our death we won't be leaving home - but we will be going home. None of us know how long we have. So lets live this life on earth as visitors doing good, loving God's people, staying blessed so we can be a blessing to others.

1 Corinthians 2:9 - ' The eye has not seen, nor ear heard; nor have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.'

Question : How should we change the way we live our lives, given that our live on earth is only for a temporary period ?

Prayer : Father God, Thank you for the life you have given us on this earth. Thank you that you want to give us your abundant life even in the short time that we have here. Help us to live or lives on this earth in a way that is pleasing to you. Thank you for the even greater life that you have kept in store for us in eternity. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
